Lee Jun Ki - curcol a bit and Two Weeks

Nggak jadi bikin post Wang So-Bidam...udah lama mau posting ini. Pas lah Lee Jun Ki lagi banyak dibahas, jadi pada ngeh apa yang saya omongin. 

Lee Jun Ki, salah satu aktor yang sekarang tengah bersinar kembali lewat drama preproduced SBS Moon Lovers ini sebenarnya sudah membuat saya tertarik sejak bermain di Two Weeks. Sebelumnya saya tahu aktor ini bermain di drama modern bareng Lee Da Hae dan Lee Dong Wook My Girl, juga sageuk bareng Han Hyo Joo dan Park Shi Hoo, atau bareng Shin Min Ah di Arang and The Magistrate. Tapi memang baru tertarik di drama itu.

Dulu sehabis wamil dan dia milih drama Arang and The Magistrate, saya bahkan sempet baca salah satu komen yang menanggapi kemenangannya di Baeksang Art Awards sebagai Best Couple. Haha katanya waktu itu emang pacaran sama si costar, jadi pantes kalau menang dan mereka milih ga dateng. Bisa aja ya? Padahal katanya Jun Ki aja ga punya nomernya wkwkwkwk. Nggak lama, Jun Ki pun main drama sageuk lagi berjudul Joseon Gunman dan diterpa rumor dating bareng lawan main dan rekan seagensinya Jun Hye Bin. Walah. Berkebalikan dengan rumor tersebut, saya sih cuma bisa ketawa waktu dia bertingkah kocak di depan hoobaenya di Scholar Who Walks The Night. Ckckck aktor kayak gini punya pacar gimana ya? :P

Jun Ki emang cantik. Makanya saya termasuk amazed waktu tahu dia main The King and The Clown karya sutradara Lee Joon Ik (namanya pun hampir mirip^^”) yang membuatnya dikenal waktu itu sebagai penari cantik. Wajahnya juga sempat dimiripin sama Yesung salah satu penyanyi favorit saya di Super Junior. Dengan karakter macam Wang So, Jun Ki emang bisa mengesankan banyak orang karena dapet banget feelnya. Di The Time Between Dog and Wolf gimana tuh? Aktor ini emang suka sama peran sageuk soalnya. Udah pengalaman. Dan kayaknya suka main action. Terus saya jadi inget sama perkataannya Ji Chang Wook yang capek maen action. Lha Jun Ki udah umur berapa masih aja main drama beginian hahahaha dasar yang pinter bela diri ga kenal capek.

Before I began filming the scene, I thought how could someone die being swept away by the water, then I realised that one could really die doing so. The staff naturally thought that I acted very well, so I could not bring myself to tell them that I had thought I was going to die. Then I realised that if I got hurt because of my own ambition, I would end up inconveniencing everyone. –Jun Ki did the action scene in Two Weeks that too difficult actually

Oke. Lanjut ke Two Weeks dan Lee Jun Ki. Apa charm yang Jun Ki miliki di drama itu? Menurut saya adalah kepolosannya. Buat yang udah nyari beritanya Jun Ki di drama ini pasti udah tahu pertemuannya dengan In Hye (nama pasangannya di drama) bagaimana. Polos banget pokoknya. Kerjaannya aja yang preman rentenir, tapi dia kayak masih lugu. Ngeliat cewek cantik yang punya hati cantik di depannya, ia lantas terpana. Saya ngerasa Jun Ki pas meranin Tae San. Keliatan tulusnya. Saya kemudian baru ngeh kenapa So Hyun Kyung SWnim yang saya mau liat dramanya lagi setelah My Daughter Seo Young memilih Lee Jun Ki. Selain pinter melakonkan karakternya, Jun Ki juga pandai membawakan adegan aksi. Ini yang dimaksud poin Ayah yang mau diliatin SWnim lewat Jun Ki. Yah mungkin wajahnya yang separuh cantik itu yang bikin sangsi. Jun Ki juga dari awal nggak pede banget ikut drama ini, takut nggak bisa ngebawain peran Ayah sekeren di The Chaser yang emang terkenal berkesan. Tapi dengan Ayah seperti Jun Ki, Tae San tetap bisa secharming yang dimau SWnim. Sampai Jun Ki sempet ditanyain SWnim mau ending yang kayak gimana awwwww. Mereka berdua ya! >.<

But he truly can do it

“It is very difficult when staff cry in silence during filming. But this happened 3 times in this production. There was this scene where I watched my blood flowing into Soojin during the bone marrow transplant. There was no acting direction at all other than ‘watch’. But there was this feeling that came unexpectedly and even the director was surprised. During this scene, the scene where Soojin wished me ‘Happy Birthday’, and the scene where I cried while begging Han Chigook, the camera director, director and FD cried. Even the lighting staff had eyes welled up with tears. It was great to have such genuine feelings while filming and they remain etched in my memory.” Tuh...Jun Ki tuh yang bikin mewek emang...

Semakin baca interviewnya Jun Ki keinget Seo Hyun Jin. Genuine in acting and honest... Makanya kalau Jun Ki bisa cocok sama SWnim, sepertinya Hyun Jin juga bisa. Bakal beda rasanya kalau eneng main dramanya SWnim satu ini

“Personally, it was an ending that I liked. Actually, I initially thought it would have been sadder and more memorable if the story had ended with Taesan giving his everything to Inhye and Soojin and died. The scriptwriter also pondered a lot over whether to end it that way. The script was still being revised even on the last day of filming, then the scriptwriter suddenly gave me a call and said ‘I want to hear the opinion of Junki who brought Jang Taesan to life’. After pondering for awhile, I replied that ‘an open ending that hints of the family of three being happy might be able to give viewers a sense of healing’. To that, the scriptwriter said ‘tell me if you have any lines that you would like to say’, and I even got angry with her, saying ‘I’m already busy memorising my lines, how could you ask me to even write the script myself?’ (laughs) This was something that I could not even imagine in the past, but the fact that I could now earn the trust of one person really made me very excited as an actor.”

Suddenly, that voice of her daughter came... “Appa” –end of the story with that smile of Jun Ki as Appa. So hearwarming ending.

“I said I couldn’t do it when I received the script. When I saw the script for the first episode, I wondered if I could understand a 32-year-old with a daughter. Senior Son Hyung Joo acted incredibly well as a father in ‘The Chaser’, so how could I, a fool who hasn’t even dated, know how to play my part? But writer So Hyun Kyung kept calling me. So I met up with her and from the moment I stepped in, she kept explaining her work in detail. She said confidently and perfectly, ‘This is different from what Senior Son Hyung Joo could do. It would be great if you could just trust and follow me. This can mould and change Lee Junki.’ So I ended up thinking for a long time even after I got home. After two days, I called her to say that I agreed.” –Jun Ki dirayu SWnim and yeah Two Weeks really change Lee Jun Ki to a father haha.
After the show aired, the scriptwriter would monitor every episode and send me text messages saying ‘Junki-sshi, it’s not enough, you are overdoing it’.

Kayaknya kok nggak jauh dari Tae San ya. Lee Jun Ki just so simple orangnya ^^ Ga malu nyeritain keburukannya pula. Ke-simple-an berkarisma yang mungkin jadi penilaian tim casting Moon Lovers untuk merekrutnya. Wang So juga polos kan awalnya? Wkwkwkwk

Jun Ki and the daughter

Lee Junki really doted on child actor Lee Chaemi who acted as his daughter in the show. He would show his fatherly smile each time Lee Chaemi’s name was mentioned. Lee Junki was full of praise for her, “She is the real lead actor of our drama. Her feedback reactions were really helpful to me.” I thought I ought to buy something for her at least. Chaemi sent me a voice message saying ‘I miss Lee Junki daddy and Park Hasun mummy.

OOT dikit. Ga Cuma Jun Ki yang akhirnya bisa percaya sama SWnim. Lee Sang Yoon, Kim So Yeon, Bae Soo Bin, dan pemeran orang tua di drama SWnim selalu mau kalau ditawarin main bareng lagi. They trust her work :)

“So Yeon noona really had a lot of lines to say. So telling her to go to rest should apply to me too right? Although the scriptwriter wasn’t late in giving us the script, it takes time for the full script of an episode to be released, so we will be fiercely memorising at the last minute. We joked that if we study so hard like that, we would have graduated from the Seoul National University as a law graduate.” (laughs)

Netizen’s choice, the best drama of 2013?

Survey conducted based on Daum portal site, since Naver excluded SBS and Cable channel tvN on drama review points and replies. 

Also, this article touches on which drama and who was chosen as best of the year 2013 in the survey which was carried out by the giant portal community Hallyu-Yeulpoong-Sahrang(한류열풍사랑) (meaning Love of Hallyu Fever)( ‘Hallyusarang’ hereinafter).

1. Portal Daum review points show that <Nine, 9 times of time travel> by tvN topped with 9.8 and <the secret> by KBS2 and <Two Weeks> by MBC shared the second place together with 9.6 out of 10. 

The giant portal community Hallyusarang has 250,000 members and is the biggest Hallyu community in Korea dealing with dramas and K-Pops.

Their survey results have <Nine> and <Respond 1994> at the first place, <I Hear Your Voice> by SBS on 2nd, <Two Weeks> on the 3rd. 

Also, they picked Lee Boyoung (I Hear Your Voice) as the best lead actress in Drama category and Lee Joon-gi (Two Weeks) as the best lead actor.

As for the best writer and director, So Hyungyeong <Two Weeks> and Park Hae- Ryeon<I Hear Your Voice> both at 1st place and Son HyeongSeok and Choi Jeong-gyu <Two Weeks> were chosen for the best director post respectively. (Brief summary& excerpt only relevant part by Elly)
